灵岩寺始建于北魏，早在唐代就是全国“四大名刹”之首，寺院主要建筑和文物古迹有大雄宝殿、御书阁、钟鼓楼、辟支塔、墓塔林、五花殿 石柱及唐宋以来碑碣。千佛殿内40尊宋代彩色泥塑罗汉像惟妙惟肖、生动传神，被誉为“海内第一名塑”，具有极高的艺术价值。寺内墓塔林共有北魏至明代墓塔167座，可与嵩山少林寺的墓塔林相媲美。
Lingyan temple was originally built up in North Wei period, and was listed in the first of the four most famous temples in China early in the Tang dynasty. The main architecture complexes and antiques are Daxiong Palace, Royal Book Pavilion, Bell-tolling building, Pizhi tower, Grave steles, Wuhua palace, stone pillar and steles from Tang and Song dynasties.40 colorful earth-made arhat figures in thousand Buddha palace are honored as “the most famous statue in China” for their remarkable imitation to life and their great artistic value. There are 167 tombstones from North Wei to Ming dynasty, which can compare with the stele forest in Shaolin Temple in Song Mountain. |
