孝堂山郭氏墓石祠是中国现存最早的地面建筑。祠堂全部石筑，室内宽3.8米，深2.13米，屋顶两面坡的石板刻出脊背等形状。祠内石壁和三角梁上雕刻有精美图画，有内容广泛的神话传说等，雕刻风格劲利，在汉画像中独具一格。祠内最早的游人题记有东汉永建四年和永康元年两则。西山墙外壁刻有北齐武平元年的《陇东王感孝颂》。 Guoshi ancestral hall and tomb on Xiaotang Mountain is the earliest surface construction reserved till now in the history of China. It is made of rock, 3.8 meters wide and 2.13 meters deep. The two slopes on the roof are carved like backbones. There are beautiful pictures carved on the wall and triangular beam. The clearly carved pictures are about mythologies, which are unique in Chinese paintings. The earliest two pieces of remarks found in the tomb were made by tourist in the fourth year of Yongjian reign, Donghan Dynasty and the first year of Yongkang reign. “Prince of Longdong’s Eulogy on Piety” made in the first year of Wuping reign, Beiqi Dynasty was carved on the west wall.
